Pure excitement for all on TEDDY BEAR TUESDAY!!

Teddy bear tuesday has taken a back seat to zeb and jai's "summer classes." our friends, josh and joel valdez, go to a school called creative spaces. it is a progressive, "no waste" school that offers regular school year classes and summer school classes with the titles like...tinkering with toys, story therapy, math and movement...seeing how joshua and joel will be immigrating to canada with their parents in july, jon and i thought it would be fun for them to have one last chance to spend some quality time with them. so all that said, zeb and jai's classes are on tuesday and thursday mornings, so teddy bear tuesday has taken a back seat to learning....UNTIL TUESDAY!!

we went to the science rooms at faith academy...ok, so you may think i'm getting really lame and uncreative due to the hot weather, but unless you know my children and their unique love for science (their grandpa is a retired science teacher, i taught science and jon's dad is a bio medical engineer) this was PURE EXCITEMENT!!

first stop was the freezer. sandy and dan varberg live just down the hill from faith academy. about a week ago they heard what they thought was a "cat fight." not an uncommon thing here...this one sounded a bit more severe, so they went out to check things out....only to find a philippine civet dead in their yard, killed by their dog. now for those of you who are not science minded the philippine civet eats berries and poops expensive cofffee (don't ask me the details--wikipedia it). so zeb and jai thought that was hilarious and super cool!!

next stop, the rhino beetle larva grubs...found in a trash can by a student. these grumbs are as large as your thumb!! and very transparent...a super amazing specimen of God's amazing handiwork and artistry!! the boys were totally stoked!!

oh and did i mention the skulls and skeletons? with a few hints by mrs. hardeman, the boys successfully identified the dog, cat and monkey skulls! true scientist in the making : )

it doesn't end there...Mrs. Hardeman pulled out all the specimens in jars...about 35 or so... a 4 and 5 year olds dream! so what is on the docket for next week? according to the boys--THE SCIENCE ROOMS AT FAITH ACADEMY
