invasion

it's rainy season. rainy season means the ground is saturated. saturated ground means the ants need somewhere new to live.

for the past few weeks, we've noticed there have been more red ants than usual in our kitchen and around our windows. but they made a coordinated attack last night.

we were all sleeping peacefully in our different rooms. sarah and her entourage noticed them first. they saw a few red ants, so they squished them and figured that was the end of it. nope. all night, there were red ants in and around their beds and they got bitten a few times.

i didn't sleep well at all, and at four in the morning i woke up very itchy. i was getting bitten all over, so i got up to take a shower. in the shower i saw the ants. there were about a dozen on me, and when i went back to bed, i found about 100 of them in a fold in the sheet by my pillow.

zeb's bed got it the worst. zeb got a few bites, but his bed was infested. the bamboo of his bed frame must have housed a colony, because his sheeets were swarming with ants. there were hundreds of them inbetween the two sheets on his bed; luckily, he sleep on top of both of them, so the ants didn't get to him.

most of this morning was spent washing sheets and spraying for ants...
