a compound problem and a flood
it was an average night at home; we were in the process of making dinner and trying to get zeb to sleep. i was adding water to the rice pot when the hose under the sink broke. normallay this wouldn't be a huge problem, you turn off the valve to stop the water and replace the hose. simple. but problems never seem to be simple in the philippines. when i went to kill the water (causing a second hose break), the handle was frozen and i only succeeded in unscrewing the valve from the wall. so there was no way to stop the water from gushing into our kitchen except by plugging it with my finger like a little dutch boy.
long story short - by the time melissa turns off the main water supply to the house, the kitchen and half the dining room are under water and zeb is screaming just for fun. our dike built out of towels held off the water until the pressure subsided and i could take my finger out. our very big thanks to kuya bong for riding his motorcycle to our house in the rain to fix our sink so we could dry out.
grandma dewey will be here in 12 hours.
