all in all...a great day
yesterday started with waking zeb and keio up at 5:45 a.m. our appointment at the embassy wasn't until 9, but had to make sure that we were there on time...no one ever knows how and where you will hit traffic. we arrived by the embassy by 7, so we had two hours to kill. it was a brilliant overcast morning so we walked to see a big boat, play on a playground and finally get our caffiene fix at starbucks. the past times we have gone to the embassy for the kids passports, it's been easy in, easy appt., easy out....not so much for keio...
we left starbucks at 8:40 to give ourselves a decent amount of time to get through security. we were directed to a line about 50+ people long...as we neared the front of the line, we saw that the next line to get inside was another 30+ people. my femaleness set in, i went to the information booth to explain that we had had an appointment at 9 and were we waiting in the right line? now that it was already bordering on 9:30 he told us to switch lines and get into the 3 person line instead of the 30+ people line. we got inside and they called keio's name straight away. to make a long story short, they said that we hadn't sent a marriage certificate or birth certificate...as soon as they receive those papers, keio will officially be an american citizen and hold an american passport!! yippee : )
on the way home, i decided that i needed to see "slumdog millionaire" before it left the theatres here(we dropped the kids at home)...it was only playing at the ultra theatre near us...so for 7 dollars we got all you could eat popcorn, drinks and lazy boy chairs. and yes they do fully recline! i forgot to mention that we had lunch at my favorite greek resturant....all in all a perfect day!!!
