thought from narnia

narnia doesn't come out in the philippines until january 9 (after the dreaded manila film festival is over), so we kind of got a sneak preview by being in the states. really well done - except for the ears on the fauns and centaurs, those were a bit lacking.

anyway, the thought i had as i watched edmund sit on his throne at the end (sorry to ruin the end for the two of you who don't know the plot) is that he got what he was after, but in a much better way. on his first visit to narnia, the white witch convinces him to betray his family by the promise of being a king. she tells him he'll rule over them as the narnian king, but the witch is a big fat liar. so edmund's in a whole heap of trouble and deserves to die for being a traitor.

the scrifice part of the story aside (which is possibly the most powerful part), when edmund meets aslan and fulfills the plan He has for his life, he gets to be king after all. but now he is king alongside his family and king over subjects who love and respect him. he got what he was after, but in the right, and much better, way.

i get like edmund. i always want things now, in my way. chasing after things like that ends up putting me in bad and dangerous spots. but when i chase God and follow His battle plan, i end up getting what i was after in the first place, but in a much better way. neat.

'di ba noche buena sa gabing ito?

at bukas ay araw ng pasko!

maligayang pasko sa inyong lahat.
